Astronauta, una película no binaria wins Fondo Cine Panamá 2025 in Documentary Production

Astronauta, una película no binaria was announced as one of the winning projects of Panama's Concurso Nacional Fondo Cine 2025 in the Documentary Production category, during the public announcement of results on October 27, 2026.

The 80-minute hybrid documentary feature is one of the original projects in advanced development by The Vision Framework. Written and directed by Enma Martínez-Cornó, it is a co-production between Panama and Mexico, produced by Niklas Salkin and Sayuri Castro.

The film explores non-binary identity and the process of constructing one's own image through a cinematic approach that combines documentary elements, staged sequences, and animation.

Since 2024, the project has participated in several film development programs, including Recién Paridos in Guatemala, Los Proyectos de Atitlán, and BAMMERs at the Bogotá Audiovisual Market in Colombia.

This recognition marks another step in the project's development and will allow the team to move forward with preparations for production.

The Vision Framework thanks the jury, people, development labs and institutions such as the Ministry of Culture of Panama that have supported the film's development throughout this journey.
