Astronauta, una película no binaria has been selected for Recién Paridos, the development workshop of the fourth Círculo de la Industria Cinematográfica: Mesoamérica.

The project was announced as one of 14 fiction and documentary feature films in development selected from Mesoamerica, the Caribbean, and Mexico. At the time of its selection, it was presented under its former working title, NB.

Astronauta, una película no binaria is an 80-minute hybrid documentary, a co-production between Panama and Mexico, and one of the original projects developed by The Vision Framework. The film is produced by Niklas Salkin and Sayuri Castro.

Writer and director Enma Martínez-Cornó and producer Sayuri Castro will represent the project during the in-person workshop, which will take place from November 13 to 16, 2024, in Guatemala City.

Recién Paridos forms part of the Círculo de la Industria Cinematográfica, a gathering that brings together filmmakers and audiovisual professionals from across the region. The 2024 edition is organized by AGACINE and the Centro Cultural de España en Guatemala, with support from the ACERCA Programme of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.

This selection marks an important first step in the development journey of Astronauta, una película no binaria and in building The Vision Framework’s regional trajectory. The team looks forward to bringing the project to Guatemala, meeting other filmmakers from the region, and beginning this new stage of its development.

More information about the program is available on the Centro Cultural de España en Guatemala website.
