From November 13 to 16, 2024, Astronauta, una película no binaria participated in Recién Paridos, the project development workshop of the fourth Círculo de la Industria Cinematográfica: Mesoamérica, held in Guatemala City.

During the workshop, the project was presented under its former working title, NB. Writer and director Enma Martínez-Cornó and producer Sayuri Castro represented the film during four days of in-person activities and personalized consultations.

Astronauta, una película no binaria is an 80-minute hybrid documentary, a co-production between Panama and Mexico, and one of the original projects developed by The Vision Framework. The film is produced by Niklas Salkin and Sayuri Castro.

Recién Paridos was coordinated by Colombian filmmaker Cristina Gallego. The advisors were Zsuzsi Bankuti of Locarno Open Doors; Javier Martín, a programmer at the San Sebastián International Film Festival; and Guatemalan director César Díaz.

The team received guidance on screenwriting, production, financing, and distribution, while also taking part in exchanges with filmmakers, producers, and audiovisual professionals from Mesoamerica, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

The experience made it possible to advance the project’s development and expand The Vision Framework’s professional network in Guatemala and the region, creating ties with potential collaborators for this and future company productions.

More information about Recién Paridos and the Círculo de la Industria Cinematográfica is available on the Centro Cultural de España en Guatemala website.
